    Kindergarten Parent Academy

Our Kindergarten Parent Academy has been a great success as many of our kindergarten parents have had the opportunity to partner with our teachers to review strategies that enable our kindergarten families to be a strong influence in their child’s academic growth.  We thank this dedicated group of parents for their time and commitment.

    Young Carnival

We would like to send out a huge thank you to our dedicated parent group at Young Elementary. Once again, our annual Carnival was a success as hundreds of families were able to have a fun filled Saturday playing games, riding horses, winner prizes, eating great food and, yes, even dunking the teachers.  Thank you to Mr. Schlarb, Mr. Eby, Mrs. Freeze & Mrs. Paull for being such good sports!!!

Young School celebrated reading during our annual Right to Read Week with an underwater theme of “Dive into Reading.” The classes engaged in curriculum based activities that allowed them to explore life under the sea.

    Healthy Heroes

Young School, once again, participated in the Healthy Heroes program sponsored by PRN.  Students are taught many healthy habits that help to keep them healthy during the winter months.  Our Healthy Heroes winners were:  Navjot Kaur, Nathan Stephenson, Chloe Nguyen & Kendall Wilderman.

    Children's Concert Society

We welcomed the Children’s Concert Society to our building this spring. They entertained us with their upbeat island music and taught our students about making music and exploring instruments.

    Butterfly Life Cycles

Our kindergarten students were able to experience watching the cycle of a butterfly first hand.  They were able to witness the entire process from egg to butterfly and then launch the butterflies into the environment.

    Upcoming Field Trips & Save-the-Dates

The students at Young School are participating in several spring field trips.  Our kindergarteners are traveling to Nickajack Farm & the Akron Zoo.  The 1st graders are going to the Cleveland Zoo.  The 2nd graders are traveling to Seiberling Nature Realm and Boettler Park.  Our 3rd graders are heading to the Fannie May Chocolate Factory and Boettler Park.  These trips will enable the students to have wonderful end of the year memories with their classmates.

We wish all of our Young School families a wonderful, relaxing summer break.  Remember to read daily and we will see you all next year.
