Our fall fundraiser was so successful that we were able to purchase the remaining smart boards that were needed for the building and purchase doc cameras for the classrooms. Ask your children about the ways they are utilizing this technology into their subjects. Thank you so much for always supporting our fundraising efforts.
Field trips are always an exciting time for students at Young Elementary. This year our kindergarteners will be going to the Akron Zoo & Magical Theatre, 1st graders went to Kingsway Farm and will go to the Cleveland Zoo, 2nd graders went to McKinley Monument & will go to Seiberling Nature Realm and our 3rd graders will be traveling to the Akron Civic Theatre for a Children’s Concert Society performance.
Christmastime is always an exciting time in elementary schools. Young School spends a lot of time GIVING over the holidays. We host a school wide toy and clothing drive and many classrooms also lead their own charitable donation drives. Our kindergarteners collected mittens for families to have during these cold months. We were also blessed with a visit from our local high school Spartanaires and our students were able to, once again, shop at the Santa Shop hosted by our wonderful, dedicated parent group.
Thank you to our Springfield Police Department who sponsored the “Officer Phil Safety Assembly.” The students were able to be entertained while learning about making safe choices.
It is not too late to purchase your 2013-2014 yearbooks. They are $15 and you may pick up an order form in the office.
Young School participated in the annual Children’s Hospital Have a Heart, Do your Part fundraising campaign. We are happy to announce that we exceeded our goal of $1000 and were able to donate to this wonderful cause. We, at Young, thank you for your generosity. We would also like to thank Mrs. Murphy’s 1st grade classroom for being our “Change Bandits” and leading this fundraiser.
Young School is proud to announce that we have been chosen by NEA to receive a special visit from the Cat-A-Van. The Cat-A-Van is a visit from The Cat in the Hat, along with Thing 1 & Thing 2. We look forward to this upcoming visit during our annual Right to Read Week.
