Schrop would like to welcome two teachers to our building this year:
Mrs. Melanie Smethers is teaching 4th grade at Schrop this year. Mrs. Smethers started her teaching career at Spring Hill Junior High in 2004. Before Mrs. Smethers began her career as a teacher, she was a County Fair Carnie, sold wholesale flowers, painted prices on car windows, and delivered US mail. She has two daughters who attend the University of Akron and a son who is a senior at Ellet. She loves cats and the kids and staff at Springfield! Melanie is also very excited to work with her former student teacher Michael Leonhardt.
Mr. Michael Leonhardt is teaching 5th grade at Schrop. He is a graduate of the University of Akron and is HQT in math. He previously worked as a tutor at SHS. Mr. Leonhardt’s son, Dristyn, was born last November and recently just got his first two teeth. Mr. Leonhardt is the coach of Ellet High School’s Varsity soccer team, and he also plays on a men’s soccer league on Sundays. During his free time, he enjoys playing the guitar, reading and spending time with his family.
