    Spring Hill welcomes all the new staff members:
     
    Ms. Knight
    Annie Knight will be teaching 8th grade English Language Arts at Spring Hill Junior High this year. She graduated from the University of Akron with a Bachelor's degree and is currently working on my Master's in English. Prior to this year, she worked as an Intervention Tutor at Springfield High School and most recently as a 12th grade English teacher at the Wayne County Schools Career Center. Annie lives in Green, and loves to read, travel, and spend time with my family and friends. She is thrilled to be back at Springfield and looks forward to a great year!

    Mrs. Rummer
    Mrs. Rummer graduated from The University of Akron in 2009 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Family and Child Development.  She recently graduated in May 2013 with a Master of Arts Degree in School Counseling, after a yearlong counseling internship at Spring Hill Junior High and Springfield High Schools.  She is still currently pursuing a Master's Degree in Family and Child Development and a Professional Licenses in Community Counseling.

    Mrs. Rummer was recently married this past July to Brian Rummer of Barberton.  And while they don't have any children yet, they do have an energetic puppy named Molly :-).  Mrs. Rummer’s parents, John and Janis Sarver, are both teachers in Akron Public Schools and are also very involved in athletics at Ellet High School. 

    Mrs. Rummer was employed at St. Matthew School for 10 years where she worked as a substitute music teacher, After-School Care assistant director, and assistant choir director.  She also held many other part-time jobs throughout the years including a server at Parasson's Restaurant and the Mascot "Ducky Downs" for the Soap Box Derby.  She is extremely excited to finally be working ONE full-time position as Spring Hill's School Counselor. 

    In her "free time" Mrs. Rummer enjoys spending time with family and friends, going on hikes, taking photographs, and singing at church.

    Mr. Beun

    Brad Beun will be joining our administrative staff as an assistant principal at Springfield Jr High.  He comes to us from Field High School where he served as assistant principal and athletic director.  Previous to Field he held various administrative roles at Lake Center Christian.

    He is married with a five-year-old daughter.  In his free time he enjoys working on projects around the house and spending time with family.

    He is excited to be joining the Springfield community.

    Mrs. Crites
    Mrs. Crites graduated with a Bachelor in Fine Arts from the University of Akron. She has worked in the business world starting as an office manger at Borders Books. She also managed her own retail businesses in Fairlawn & Beechwood. Mrs. Crites left the business world to work at Don Drumm Art gallery. It wasn't until her son brought home artwork from school that she decided she wanted to teach art! She went back to school & received teaching certification last year. Mrs. Crites now live in Hartville with her 10-year-old son who plays football & loves cub scouts. They love hiking, biking, and camping together. She also continues her work as an artist...painting, printmaking, & photography.

    Student Teachers:  Kyle Mothersbaugh, Jasmyne Anderson, Chris Wortman and Tommy JoDon

    Mr. Mothersbaugh is a student teacher from the University of Akron.  He is married and his wife teaches 3rd grade.  He is the father of three children, ages 2, 4 and 5.  His hobbies include camping, playing golf, and spending time with his family.  He can be found student teaching in Mrs. Scullen’s 8th grade English Language Art’s Class.

    Jasmyne Anderson is 24 years old.  She lives in Akron and is attending the University of Akron.  Jasmyne is studying Science and English and is student teaching with Mr. Fleming in 7th grade science.  Miss Anderson enjoys biking, hiking, sporting activities and sporting events.  She is also training for the Akron Roadrunner half-marathon.  This past summer Miss Anderson visited the country of Haiti and worked with 31 students in an orphanage.

    Chris Wortman is originally from Baltimore, Maryland.  He is beginning his 6th year studying Music Education at The Kent State University.  While at KSU he played at principal trombone for the KSU Orchestra, Wind Ensemble, and Jazz Ensemble 1.  He also marches in the Kent State Marching Golden Flashes for 5 years on both trombone and tuba.  In his free time he was the former director of the Youth Vocal Choir at the United Methodist Church of Kent, is the current director of the Youth Handbell Choir at St. Vincent's Catholic Church in Akron, the assistant director of the adult choir, Canticum Novum, at St. Vincent's.  Chris Wortman has also worked for the marching bands of Solon, Kent Roosevelt, and Stow-Monroe Falls High Schools.  He also works as an Assistand DJ for The DJ Crew based out of Akron.  He is also an Eagle Scout. 

    Tommy JoDon can be found in Mrs. Zarges’ Physical Education classes.  He is a PE and Health major at the University of Akron.  Mr. JoDon enjoys backpacking, reading and watching Cleveland sports teams.
     
     
    From the Parent Group
    T’s-n-Things will be in the school cafeteria on Friday, September 20 during lunches to sell Springfield Spirit Wear as a Parent Group fundraiser.  Pre-order forms will be passed out to the teachers and students the week of September 16 to be turned in, with payment on September 20.  There will also be a limited selection of spirit wear for immediate purchase on the 20th for those with cash who want their spirit wear right away!!
