Superintendent's Update
A Note from Superintendent William Stauffer
I would like to thank you for visiting our website. As we begin the 2014-15 school year there are many exciting things happening in our district. I am happy to report that our new Junior High/High School is finally finished. Our parking lots are complete and parking will no longer be an issue.
I am also happy to announce that once again our finances are in good shape. The district finished the past fiscal year with a $7.7 million cash balance. The district has been out of fiscal emergency for the past 2.5 years and we don’t plan to go back. We continue to keep a very close eye on both staffing and district spending. We will be asking the community to approve three renewal levies in November. These are not new levies and this is not a tax increase. These renewals produce about $5 million a year in revenue for our school district and are essential to the district’s financial well-being.
It has been an extremely busy summer as we closed Roosevelt Elementary and replaced it with Spring Hill Elementary. Spring Hill has been repainted and retrofitted to accommodate elementary children. Please stop by and check out the improvements made to the parking lot and the new playground for our children. Many thanks go out to both our custodial and maintenance workers for getting the building ready.
Finally, I would like to announce that I will be retiring January 31. It has been my honor and privilege to have served as the Superintendent of the Springfield Local Schools the past seven years. Many things have been accomplished and I would like to thank everyone associated with the Springfield Local Schools for their support. Mr. Chuck Sincere will replace me beginning February 1. I look forward to working with Mr. Sincere during this transition period and I know he will do an excellent job!
Welcome!
