Superintendent's Update
Thank you for visiting our website. As the end of the school year approaches our district is busy preparing for prom, award presentations, final exams and saying farewell to our class of 2014. Graduation once again will take place at E.J. Thomas Hall on the campus of the University of Akron on June 6 at 7:00 p.m. It has been another great year here at Springfield!
This November, the Springfield Local Schools will have three operating levies on the ballot. These are renewals and will not increase your taxes! The renewal of these levies is critical to the operation of our school district. Without this revenue many cuts would need to be made. Please continue to support our schools.
Construction is nearing an end on our High School and Junior High campus. The old high school has been demolished and site work is under way. There is much dirt to be moved and roads and parking lots are being constructed. All work should be complete for the beginning of the 2014-15 school year in late August.
We are busy transforming Spring Hill from a junior high school into an elementary building. Fresh paint, new carpeting along with a new playground will hopefully make it look like a new building. Roosevelt Elementary will close at the end of the current school year.
Finally, the last day of school for students is June 10. We will reopen for the 2014-15 school year on August 27. This will be a short summer due to beginning this year late because of construction along with the addition of two extra days because of snow.
Have a safe and fun filled summer!
