Superintendent's Message
Thank you for visiting the Springfield Local Schools’ website. As the school year comes to a close, I can say it has been another great year! Just recently we were officially notified by the Ohio Department of Education that we have been rated an “Excellent” district once again. Congratulations to all of our fine students and teachers.
I am disappointed to report to you that our construction project is no longer on schedule and our new building won’t be ready to open in September. We are working daily to correct our floor bounce issues and I am hopeful that these problems will be solved and we will be moving into the new building in the not too distant future.
Despite these construction challenges, our students continue to achieve at high levels. Since my last update our Gravity Racing Challenge Team has taken first place at the Soapbox Derby, the girls’ softball team is state ranked and our boys’ baseball team is much improved. Our band and choirs continue to excel and are second to none. We have wonderful students to work with at Springfield and I would like to once again thank our community for their continued support.
Our financial five-year forecast is excellent and our future is bright. Other than renewal levies in 2014 and 2015 we do not expect to be on the ballot for new money in the near future. We watch our expenditures very closely. Now that we are out of fiscal emergency we never plan to go back.
As our school year comes to a close, I wish all of our students a happy and safe summer.
