The Ohio National Guard Scholarship Program (ONGSP) is a state-funded scholarship program for individuals who enlist, extend or reenlist into the Ohio National Guard. This educational program is only offered by the Ohio National Guard. No other branch of service offers this program. This program exists by Ohio Revised Code 5919.34 and is not subject to changing federal budgets. The ONGSP can pay up to 100% of the total instruction and general fee charges of STATE-assisted colleges and universities in pursuit of an undergraduate degree. Benefits for approved private or proprietary degree-granting institutions of higher education are limited to the average tuition and general fee charges of the state-assisted colleges and universities for 12 credit hours. Participants must not have previously received a baccalaureate degree. Each participant with a six-year enlistment is eligible for a lifetime maximum of 12 full-time quarters or 8 full-time semesters. Members who are Prior Service participants with a at least 3 years of prior service and with a 3-year enlistment with the Ohio National Guard or members who are Non-Prior Service participants with a 3-year enlistment with the ONG are eligible. Participants MUST remain enrolled for a minimum of three credit hours per term in a degree-granting program. Members are eligible for benefits upon enlistment. Eligible members must apply for the scholarship before each term or semester using the Ohio National Guard Scholarship Program website before the following deadlines: Spring Quarter - February 1 Summer Term - April 1 Fall Term - July 1 Winter Quarter/Spring Semester - November 1.
