Young NewsLinksThe 2014-2015 school year is off to a fabulous start! The students are adapting to their new classrooms and they are already actively engaged in learning. We are excited to be welcoming 88 new kindergarteners to our building. We welcome the class of 2027!!!Our fall fundraiser began on September 10 and your children brought home information on how you can buy/renew your magazine subscriptions, order your fall cookie dough or order online memory books. The profits from our fundraiser will go towards purchasing classroom technology. Thank you in advance for your participation. Our school is, once again, very lucky to have the Summit County Bookmobile come to our school every other Thursday. This allows our students one more opportunity to check out literature and promote their love for reading. Kindergarten students will receive information on how to get their own library cards in order to take advantage of this opportunity. Our fall photo day will be on October 7, 2014. Information will be coming home ahead of time for you to preorder photos. We have elected to use Lifetouch as our photo company and we are very excited about the services they will offer. We are very excited to share with you a great opportunity for our kindergarten families. With the support of a GAR Grant, we are implementing a “Parent Academy” which will meet quarterly throughout the school year in order to connect the families with the teachers. This school/family connection will support our kindergarten students as they become new readers. These academy nights will include presentations by our students, tips and guidance to assist your young readers and make ‘n’ take activities to play at home. If you were unable to attend our first session, please feel free to view the presentation slides here. Our next session will be held on October 21, 2014 at 6:30 in the High School Commons. We hope to see you all there.Download the PowerPoint here.We welcome Mrs. Liza Lower as our new elementary art teacher. She is a graduate from Kent State University with a bachelor degree in art education and a minor in studio art. She has been married for 16 years to her husband, Michael, who is also a teacher and a basketball coach. She enjoys reading, arts & crafts and watching her children, Ethan, Morgan and Gwendolyn play sports.Congratulations goes out to all of our 2013-2014 “Principal’s Math Club” members.
