Our parent group has
many great events planned for the students and staff. They will have Book Fairs, Popcorn Days,
Skate Nights, Restaurant Nights, School Store, Market Days, Community Charity
Days, and Yearbook. They also help fund
our Student agenda books, transportation for 9 Week Rewards and 6th
grade EDdventure days. They show how much our teachers are appreciated by
hosting our Teacher Appreciation Week.
Ms. Dodds
The 4th graders at
Schrop are off to a busy new year. Mrs.
Spellman is working on realistic fiction and characterization with the students,
while Mrs. Wagner is covering place value in math class. Ms. Dodds’s science class is working on how
the Earth’s surface changes due to weathering and erosion. The students have settled in nicely as fourth
graders at Schrop. We look forward to many more learning experiences and
activities as the year continues.
Mrs. Bogunovich, Mrs. Reed and Mrs. Syx
The fourth grade team of
Mrs. Bogunovich, Mrs. Reed and Mrs. Syx celebrated Constitution Day on
September 17. Mrs. Syx's social studies
classes enjoyed learning about the Constitution with children's picture books,
singing the Schoolhouse Rock Preamble and then creating their own Constitution Day star. Mrs. Reed's students are studying
different genres and getting in the habit of reading every night. In Mrs. Bogunovich's room, students are seeing the importance of knowing and
using their basic math facts. The
students recently helped "Turn
Schrop Gold" in support of Childhood Cancer Awareness month by wrapping
the tree trunks in front of the school.
Art
Mrs.
Wyss is happy to be back teaching art at Schrop Intermediate.
For their first art project this school year,
the 6
th grade students are creating a poster to submit to the 2015
Safety Kids Poster Contest sponsored by Akron prosecutor, Sherri Bevan-Walsh. If selected by the judges, the students will
have their art published in a calendar that will be distributed throughout the
City of Akron. The first place winners will also get their poster turned into a
billboard, win a hundred dollar gift card, and get a television appearance on
Channel 43. Good luck 6
th
graders!!!
