December 2006 ... from the Principal’s Desk
Happy and Safe Holidays to each of you from all of us!!
Thank You to everyone for stopping in for a conference, coming to PTG meetings, support of market day, Santa shop, and to the PTG board. Without your support we could not do all of the things that we do. You are truly appreciated.
Thank you for your cooperation with drop off and pick up of students who can no longer ride the bus. Please be careful especially if you pass cars in line, we have had several near misses as cars leave the lineup to exit.
Thank you for your support of the Thanksgiving Reading Challenge, there will be another event during winter and spring breaks. We are encouraging reading of non-fiction books but anything is better than nothing. We also encourage reading with your child and asking prediction and comprehension questions.
You can find lots of information about Young School, or linked online resources, and general information at our website.

There will be a Young School Yearbook this year. The 28-page book with color pictures includes student pictures from each class and several pages of activity pictures. Orders for the yearbook will be taken in January.
Ohio Reads will begin soon and looking for volunteers. If you have time during the school day to read to students, we need you. Please call us or return the reading form if you can read to children.
Winter is on its way, which means hats, gloves and coats. We will go outside, except the coldest days, all winter. If your child should not go outside, because of illness, please send a note. With a written request your son or daughter can stay inside during recess, due to illness, for one or two days. If it is for an extended amount of time (all week) we need a note from the doctor. We do not have an inside monitor to watch students so they must sit by the office. Please be understanding, that this is the teacher's time to eat lunch.
Our policy for noon recess is:
We stay in only when: It is raining, sleeting, snowstorm, wind chill is below zero and/or the temperature is below 10 degrees.
School closing information is given on WAKR 1590 AM, WONE 97.5 FM, WGAR 99.5 FM, K105, WKDD 99.5 FM, WNIR 100, TV 8, 5, 3, 43, 19, and www.cancellations.com I will call the parent broadcast after it has been on the news as a verification that school has been cancelled.
