MINUTES OF THE SPECIAL MEETING

OF APRIL 12, 2006

The Board of Education of the Springfield Local School District met in the Board

Room of the Administration Office, April 12, 2006 for a special meeting. The

meeting was called to order at 6:05 P.M. Board members present were Mrs. Dodson,

Mrs. Mash, Mr. Ternosky, Mr. Wieland, and Mrs. Young. The Superintendent and

Business Manager were also present. The Treasurer was absent.

Glenn Wieland is appointed as Treasurer Pro Tem for this meeting.

Following roll call the pledge of allegiance was recited.

06-092 Mrs. Young made a motion that the Board enter into executive session

Executive at this time to consider the employment status of selected personnel and

Session discipline of an employee. Second by Mr. Ternosky. Ayes: Mr. Wieland,

Mr. Ternosky, Mrs. Dodson, Mrs. Mash, Mrs. Young.

Mrs. Mash declared the motion passed.

The Board entered into Executive Session at 6:10 P.M.

The Board returned from Executive Session at 7:40 P.M.

06-093 Mrs. Young made a motion that the Board accept the retirement

Personnel resignation of teacher Nancy Wright effective June 1, 2006.

Second by Mr. Wieland. Ayes: Mr. Ternosky, Mr. Wieland,

Mrs. Dodson, Mrs. Mash, Mrs. Young. Mrs. Mash declared the

motion passed.

06-094 Mrs. Dodson made a motion that the Board release Susan Wallace

Personnel (Physical Education teacher at Roosevelt Elementary) from employment

with Springfield Local Schools at the end of the work day June 2, 2006,

due to a reduction in force. Second by Mrs. Young. Ayes: Mr. Ternosky,

Mrs. Young, Mrs. Mash, Mr. Wieland, Mrs. Dodson. Mrs. Mash declared

the motion passed.

06-095 Mrs. Young made a motion that the Board release Karla Dotson

Personnel (Title I teacher at Lakemore and Roosevelt) from employment with

Springfield Local Schools at the end of the work day June 2, 2006,

due to a reduction in force. Second by Mr. Wieland. Ayes: Mrs. Mash,

Mr. Ternosky, Mrs. Young, Mr. Wieland, Mrs. Dodson. Mrs. Mash

declared the motion passed.

06-096 Mr. Ternosky made a motion that the Board release Angela Callaway

Personnel (Language Arts teacher at Spring Hill Junior High) from employment

with Springfield Local Schools at the end of the work day June 2, 2006,

due to a reduction in force. Second by Mrs. Dodson. Ayes: Mrs. Mash,

Mr. Ternosky, Mrs. Young, Mr. Wieland, Mrs. Dodson. Mrs. Mash

declared the motion passed.

06-097 Mrs. Young made a motion that the Board release Jamie Eberts

Personnel (classroom teacher at Roosevelt Elementary) from employment

with Springfield Local Schools at the end of the work day June 2, 2006,

due to a reduction in force. Second by Mr. Ternosky. Ayes: Mrs. Mash,

Mr. Ternosky, Mrs. Young, Mr. Wieland, Mrs. Dodson. Mrs. Mash

declared the motion passed.

06-098 Mrs. Dodson made a motion that the Board release Kim Mullaly

Personnel (kindergarten teacher at Boyer Kindergarten Center) from employment

with Springfield Local Schools at the end of the work day June 2, 2006,

due to a reduction in force. Second by Mrs. Young. Ayes: Mrs. Mash,

Mr. Ternosky, Mrs. Young, Mr. Wieland, Mrs. Dodson. Mrs. Mash

declared the motion passed.

06-099 Mr. Ternosky made a motion that the Board reduce Diane Paloney

Personnel to 80% Art teacher at Roosevelt Elementary effective with the 2006-

2007 school year due to a reduction in force. Second by Mrs. Young.

Ayes: Mrs. Mash, Mr. Ternosky, Mrs. Young, Mr. Wieland, Mrs. Dodson.

Mrs. Mash declared the motion passed.

06-100 Mrs. Dodson made a motion that the Board employ Les Cheney to

Personnel supervise the weight room and teach weight training classes as needed

at 50% with no benefits for the 2006-2007 school year. Second by

Mr. Ternosky. Ayes: Mr. Ternosky, Mr. Wieland, Mrs. Mash, Mrs. Dodson,

Mrs. Young. Mrs. Mash declared the motion passed.

06-101 Mrs. Young made a motion that the Board employ Frank Chenoweth

Personnel as Audio Visual Director at 50% with no benefits for the 2006-2007

school year. Second by Mr. Ternosky. Ayes: Mr. Ternosky, Mr. Wieland,

Mrs. Mash, Mrs. Dodson, Mrs. Young. Mrs. Mash declared the motion passed.

06-102 Mr. Ternosky made a motion that the Board approve payment of $20 per

Personnel hour to the following staff members for staff development presentations

and/or curriculum development for the remainder of the 2005-2006

school year to be paid from Title I grant funds:

Debbie Frank Jenna Raber

Melinda Nagle-Weakland Melissa Selby

Second by Mrs. Dodson. Ayes: Mr. Ternosky, Mr. Wieland, Mrs. Mash,

Mrs. Dodson, Mrs. Young. Mrs. Mash declared the motion passed.

06-103 Mrs. Dodson made a motion that the Board accept the resignation of

Personnel teacher Ken Kelovsky effective November 30, 2006, as stated in the

agreement. (Board members have received copies of the agreement.)

Second by Mrs. Young. Ayes: Mrs. Mash, Mrs. Young, Mr. Ternosky,

Mr. Wieland, Mrs. Dodson. Mrs. Mash declared the motion passed.

06-104 Mrs. Young made a motion for adjournment. Second by

Adjournment Mrs. Dodson. Ayes: Mrs. Dodson, Mrs. Mash, Mr. Ternosky,

Mr. Wieland, Mrs. Young. Mrs. Mash declared the motion passed.

Meeting adjourned at 8:22 P.M.
