MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING

OF FEBRUARY 14, 2006

 

 

 

The Board of Education of the Springfield Local School District met at

Schrop Intermediate School, February 14, 2006 for the regular meeting.

The meeting was called to order at 6:00 P.M.  Board members present

were Mrs. Mash, Mrs. Young, Mrs. Dodson, Mr. Wieland and Mr. Ternosky. 

The Superintendent, Treasurer, and Business Manager were also present.

 

 

After roll call the pledge of allegiance was recited.

 

 

06-034             Mr. Wieland made a motion that the Board enter into executive session 

Executive                        at this time to consider the employment, dismissal or discipline of a

Session                public employee or official.  Second by Mrs. Young.  Ayes:  Mrs. Mash,

                        Mr. Ternosky, Mrs. Dodson, Mrs. Young, Mr. Wieland.  Mrs. Mash declared

                        the motion passed.

 

                        The Board entered into Executive Session at 7:10 P.M.

 

                        The Board returned from Executive Session at 7:25 P.M.

 

 

06-035             Mr. Ternosky made a motion that the Board approve the minutes of

Approval of           the regular meeting of January 10, 2006, and the special meeting

Minutes               of January 24, 2006.  (Exhibit 1) Second by Mrs. Dodson.  Ayes: 

                        Mr. Ternosky, Mrs. Mash, Mrs. Dodson, Mrs. Young, Mr. Wieland. 

                        Mrs. Mash declared the motion passed.

 

 

06-036             Mr. Wieland made a motion that the Board approve bills for payment

Payment of           for the month of January, pending audit.  (Exhibit 2)  Second by

Bills                   Mrs. Young.  Ayes:  Mr. Ternosky, Mrs. Mash, Mrs. Dodson,

                        Mrs. Young, Mr. Wieland.  Mrs. Mash declared the motion passed.

 

 

06-035             Mrs. Young made a motion that the Board accept the retirement

Personnel             resignation of principal George Daniel Dutton effective June 16,

                        2006.  Second by Mr. Ternosky.  Ayes:  Mrs. Mash, Mrs. Young,

                        Mr. Ternosky, Mr. Wieland.  Nays:  Mrs. Dodson.  Mrs. Mash declared

                        the motion passed.

 

06-036             Mrs. Dodson made a motion that the Board accept the resignation

Personnel             of bus driver Dave Dennison from his contracted route effective

                        September 2, 2005, and from his employment as a substitute driver

                        effective February 1, 2006.  Second by Mrs. Young.  Ayes:  Mrs. Mash,

                        Mrs. Young, Mr. Ternosky, Mr. Wieland, Mrs. Dodson.  Mrs. Mash

                        declared the motion passed.

 

 

06-037             Mr. Wieland made a motion that the Board employ Danielle Anderson

Personnel             as a classified substitute, per the negotiated agreement and pending proper

                        certification/licensure.  Second by Mr. Ternosky.  Ayes:  Mrs. Mash,

                        Mrs. Young, Mr. Ternosky, Mr. Wieland, Mrs. Dodson.  Mrs. Mash

                        declared the motion passed.

 

 

06-038             Mrs. Young made a motion that the Board approve the following

06-039             Mr. Ternosky made a motion that the Board approve the following

Personnel             volunteer athletic coaches for the 2005-2006 school year:

                                    Natalie Voytek              Volunteer Softball

                                    George MacDonald        Volunteer BoysÕ Track

                       

                        Second by Mrs. Dodson.  Ayes:  Mrs. Mash, Mrs. Young, Mr. Ternosky,

                        Mr. Wieland, Mrs. Dodson.  Mrs. Mash declared the motion passed.

 

                                                                                                           

06-040             Mr. Wieland made a motion that the Board employ Laura Hancock

Personnel             as a substitute extended day teacher for the remainder of the 2005-

                        2006 school year.  Second by Mrs. Young.  Ayes:  Mrs. Mash, Mrs. Young,

                        Mr. Ternosky, Mr. Wieland, Mrs. Dodson.  Mrs. Mash declared the motion passed.

 

 

06-041             Mr. Wieland made a motion that the Board accept the resignation

Personnel             of Gail Pillo as a bus driver for Springfield Local School District

                        effective at the end of her 120th day of service in the 2005-2006

                        school year. Second by Mr. Ternosky.  Ayes:  Mrs. Mash,

                        Mrs. Young, Mr. Ternosky, Mr. Wieland, Mrs. Dodson.  Mrs. Mash

                        declared the motion passed.

 

 

06-042             Mrs. Dodson made a motion that the Board employ Theresa Morrison

Personnel             as a routed bus driver effective January 17, 2006, per the negotiated

                        collective bargaining agreement and pending proper certification/licensure.                           
                        Second by Mr. Wieland.  Ayes:  Mrs. Mash, Mrs. Young, Mr. Ternosky,

                        Mr. Wieland, Mrs. Dodson.  Mrs. Mash declared the motion passed.

 

                                                           

06-043             Mr. Ternosky made a motion that the Board deem transportation for

Spec Ed                Lindsay Greene to be unreasonable, uneconomical and impractical

Transportation       under present conditions.  Second by Mr. Wieland.  Ayes:  Mrs. Mash,

                        Mr. Ternosky, Mr. Wieland, Mrs. Young.  Nays:  Mrs. Dodson.  Mrs. Mash                           
                        declared the motion passed.

 

 

06-044             Mrs. Young made a motion that the Board approve the following

Job Descriptions         revised Administrative Guidelines - Job Descriptions as presented

                        at the January 10, 2006 Board meeting:

06-045             Mrs. Dodson made a motion that the Board enter into executive session 

Executive                        at this time to consider the employment of a public employee or

Session                official.  Second by Mrs. Young.  Ayes:  Mrs. Mash, Mr. Ternosky,

                        Mrs. Dodson, Mrs. Young, Mr. Wieland.  Mrs. Young declared

                        the motion passed.

 

                        The Board entered into Executive Session at 8:25P.M.

06-046             Mrs. Young made a motion for adjournment.  Second by

Adjournment         Mrs. Dodson.  Ayes:  Mrs. Dodson, Mrs. Mash, Mr. Ternosky,

                        Mr. Wieland, Mrs. Young.  Mrs. Mash declared the motion passed.

 

                        Meeting adjourned at 9:40 P.M.
