              The minutes of  the regular meetings of July 31, 2002, and August 20, 2002, appear as Exhibit 1. They are recommended for approval.          

 

IV.         CITIZENS' COMMENTS ON AGENDA ITEMS

 

              Citizens' comments on agenda items are welcome at this time.  

 

 VI.         PAYMENT OF BILLS

 

               Bills for the month of August appear as Exhibit 2.  They are recommended for payment, pending

               audit.  

 

VII.         PERSONNEL           

 

             1.   It is recommended that Kara Kaufman be employed as a High School Language Arts teacher on a one-year limited contract, at the proper step on the salary schedule, for the 2002-2003 school year, effective the first day worked.  (Replacement for Kaley Guiley) 

 

            2.   It is recommended that the following be employed as Edwin Shaw tutors, as per the negotiated agreement, on an as needed basis, effective the first day worked:

            4.   It is recommended that Michelle Warner be employed for Friday School during the 2002-2003 school year.

             6.   It is recommended that the resignation of Darla Cutright, Boyer teaching assistant, be accepted, effective at the beginning of the 2002-2003 school year.

 

            7.   It is recommended that Heather Smart be employed as a Spring Hill Junior High tutor, pending proper certification, as per the collective bargaining agreement with SLACT, as needed for the 2002-2003 school year.    

 

            8.   It is recommended that the following supplemental contracts be approved for the 2002-2003             school year:

            9.   It is recommended that Amanda Clarihew be employed as a Schrop Title I Math tutor at 20% for the 2002-2003 school year.                       

 

           10.   It is recommended that Donna Allen be employed as a 7.0 hour teaching assistant at Roosevelt Elementary School, effective the first day worked.

 

            11.   It is recommended that Lisa Llewellyn be employed as a 7.0 hour one-on-one teaching assistant for a student at PACE Program (for students with autism) in Cuyahoga Falls Schools, effective the first day worked.

 

            12.   It is recommended that Richard Corell be employed as a 50% high school guidance counselor for the 2002-2003 school year.

 

            13.   It is recommended that Guidance Counselor Richard Corell be granted a 5.5 day extended time contract for the 2002-2003 school year.

 

 VIII.     STUDENT HANDBOOK APPROVAL

 

           It is recommended that the Student Handbooks for each of the seven buildings in the district and   the preschool be approved, as presented.       

 

  IX.      TRANSPORTATION TO OTHER SCHOOLS

 

RESOLVED  that it is deemed to be unreasonable, uneconomical and/or impractical under present conditions to provide transportation on our buses to the following schools:

 

St. Vincent-St. Mary, St. Augustine, Tallmadge Christian School, Akron Christian School (Newton Street), Walsh Jesuit, Arlington Academy, Chapel Hill Christian School, Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy, Interfaith Family Elementary, Lake Center Christian School, St. Anthony School, Annunciation-St. John School, St. Joseph, St. Paul, Our Lady of the Elms, Ghent Academy, Summit Christian, Archbishop  Hoban, Summit Academy, The Academy, and St. Marthaís

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that parents of students attending said schools may qualify for an annual payment per child as prescribed by law (state average per pupil expended  for transportation during the past year).  Parents may so qualify by waiving transportation, making application for a ìDî contract, signing same, performing according to the terms thereof, and submitting an invoice at the conclusion of the year. 

 

   X.      APPROVAL OF APPROPRIATIONS FOR FY 2003

 

            It is recommended that appropriations for FY 2003, ending June 30, 2003, be approved in the amount of $21,782,500.00 for the General Fund and $26,901,795.85 total all funds as they appear in Exhibit 3.  

 

 XI.       DONATION OF COMPUTER

 

              It is recommended that the donation by Ruth Frazee of a PAK 133 MGH computer (valued at $200), with monitor, keyboard, modem, sound card, and mouse, to Ray Lyn Craigís Boyer Kindergarten class be accepted.  

 

XII.       APPROVAL OF VOLUNTEERS

 

            It is recommended that George MacDonald be approved as a volunteer to work in elementary computer labs with staff and students.
