Larry Boso nominated and approved as Board Member

 

Currently have 27 Board of Trustee Members – maximum by by-laws

 

á      Working on Letterhead samples – Bobby Dinkins

 

á      Approval of April 2006 minutes

 

á      Kim Urbach asked for $300 for her summer reading program in Lakemore.  Was informed to ask

again at June meeting if funds still needed.

 

á      Akron Reads – Discussion of possibly paying for busses for Springfield students to attend the

event in September which is on a Saturday.

 

á      Community Day Update: Jorge reported that $25 was made.  Motion to donate funds to school

library fund of school district made by Jorge Rodriques and seconded by Dan Yost.  Check presented to Dr. Pecko.

 

á      Jorge Rodrigues, Dan Yost and Rich Honeck to go on fact finding mission with Bates

Amusements regarding carnival plans for future.

 

á      Discussed a membership drive. We will see if we get any donations from the flyers in the Book

Distribution. We will form a membership drive committee if we don't get many general

donations from this.

SSAF to create book bag with for students and parents of NEW kindergartners who register by deadline each year.  – to be addressed later – no action taken at April or May meeting.

Book Distribution Project UPDATE

62 hours worked

Motion to Increased budget to $1200 to pay for books was made – seconded and passed

Over 2000 books expected to be purchased

 

Discussion:

Plan to do next year

Changes:

            Fewer buyers

            More volunteers

            Buy and work in December and May (not just May)

Distribution would still be in May ????

 

How is success of the Book Project measured?

            Becky Burtoft stated we really could not tell – but many kids have new books

                                                     

Grants Committee – Tabitha Cunningham, Chair

Becky Burtoft and Erin Burtoft shared final DRAFT of Grant Application.  Bobby Dinkins to add logo.  Form to be presented to teachers in August.  (copy requested for website and attachment for June minutes)

Bobby Dinking is creating a solicitation flyer and brochure about SSAF. 

Donor cards will be available at a later date.

Donation Levels:

            $1-$24                       Spartan Friend                     Corporate:     $500 -$999

$25-49                       Merit Roll                                                       $1000-$2499

            $50-$199                  Honor Roll                                                    $2500 plus

            $200 - $499              Valedictorian

Richard Honeck stated that a tax return for 2005 will need to be submitted to the Treasurer of the State of Ohio (990EZ)

Becky to develop a plan/budget draft from which to start.
